***PLEASE NOTE***
As you know, we have been trying for a few seasons to try to find a way to have everyone fulfill their duties and responsibilities as a member of a cooperative swim club. Last year we decided to contract out for the pool house cleaning and grass mowing, thereby removing a large recurring responsibility from the membership. The response was positive and we expect to continue this. We realize everyone is busy and we are trying to strike the right balance between expectations and convenience for a cooperative organization.
Still, many have not participated or responded to our requests for assistance while continuing to take advantage of our swim club. Obviously this is not a fair situation.
Other clubs and volunteer organizations have different methods, including assessing additional fees upfront and refunding them only after your volunteer duties are completed. The Executive Committee decided not to increase fees upfront, but to assess penalties for non-participation afterwards.
Please be advised:
By a unanimous vote it was resolved that a member who has not participated during the work weekends for the pool opening and closing, either with your assigned committee or on your own, shall be assessed $50 per event.
Also, if a member does not participate in their seasonal committee co-op duties as requested by your committee chair, they will be assessed $100 at the end of the season.
If these non-participation fees are not paid by Mar. 31 of the following year, it will be considered the same as failure to pay annual fees. In this case, your membership will be cancelled and the fees will come out of your bond refund should any be due.
